Minute-to-Win-It Supper Club in July

Time to let the games begin!

Well it seems a little hard to believe that some of you have not seen Minute to Win It on NBC, but here is their official website.

The game show is comprised of tasks that must be completed within a minute for you to move on to the next round.  We will not be moving on to new rounds, but instead we will be keeping score.  We are planning to do 6 or 7 rounds in the main competition and then have a best out of 3 for the championship.  Everyone will be timed as they attempt the task in a given round.  The team with the fastest time will receive 3 points.  The second fastest 2, and the third fastest 1.  To get any points, you must complete the game within the minute.  We will have a fancy scoreboard set up for sure!

Teams will be comprised of the couples.  Come up with a team name - which you let me know for the scoreboard - and dress accordingly, if you wish.

We will set up a game version for the kids as well so they can have their own competition...

As for the games - the fun part!  We will select 6 games that we will have "equipment" for at the house.  Every other couple needs to select a game from the show's website.  The list of games is located here.  For example, here is the blueprint for one of the games that we will include - Stack Attack!  Each of the games has the equipment listed that you need to play it.  For the game your family chooses, please be sure to verify that we have the necessary materials to play it or be sure to bring them for the festivities.  Everyone needs to have their game posted to the blog by July 1st.  That way we will have the 10 games selected and everyone can practice - if they so desire.  We do plan to try and do most of the games inside if possible, so please keep that in mind...

On game night, the order will be randomly determined by drawing the games out of the hat.  No team member can do more than 2 games in a row, so that way each one has to play at least twice.  There will be a wonderful trophy complete with engraving for the winning team to keep until next year's games!

If you have any questions, please let me know.  Otherwise, pick your games wisely and be prepared to have some fun!

A New Year of Supper Clubbing Finally Kicks Off

It seems like it has been 4 months since we last officially gathered!  Oh yeah, it has!  But we will be together again this weekend at the Miranda's.  All of us look forward to the opportunity to hang out, try some good food (and drink), and basically shoot the bull.  This weekend, I look can't wait to try some of Miranda's oatmeal porter from the kegerator that I am sure will be working and fully functional this time!

Unfortunately the Trammells won't be able to attend, but hopefully that will not cast an unfavorable ballot against them at the end-of-the-year meeting!  Meg is out of town and Cord got  the tap on the shoulder from his boss that he better show up at the company party on Saturday night or else!  On a positive note, Cord should be forwarding a copy of the party invite so we can print mulitple copies and crash later on Saturday night if anyone is still able to make the drive to Cumming!! (more food, more booze, and bouncy houses...)

Be sure to e-mail me recipes from last year (and remind me the order we went in...) so I can do some past posts.  I will try to be better about this year - I did say try right?

So far the Easter-style menu includes smoked turkey (Miranda), homemade potato salad (Burnette), deviled eggs & appetizers (Willis), and dessert & apps (Nama).  The drink of the day will be the oatmeal porter discussed earlier.

And in case you don't know how, I will include a link to Katie's instructional video on making rice krispy treats that she did for her class earlier in the year... See you all on Saturday!

Backyard BBQ brought to you by Coca-Cola

Grab your favorite fixins for a special Memorial Day weekend Supper Club BBQ. In honor of Coca-Cola's 124th birthday this month, we'll be serving grilled chicken with a special Coca-Cola glaze among other dishes. Of course there will be plenty of Coca-Cola on hand to mix with its pals, Jack Daniel's and Captain Morgan, as well as Coke Floats for the young and young at heart.

So pull out the flip-flops and bring swim suits for the kids (we'll hose 'em off if it gets too hot) and let's welcome summer. See ya soon!

2nd Meeting of 2010 at the Miranda Brewery

Take Two! Chris really now knows that life exists at forty and is in bliss that this life now includes a kegerator. Many consider Chris to be one of more adequate makers of homebrew and agree that the style, taste and color of his homebrew beats Bernie's beloved Natty Ice hands down. With age comes wisdom and Chris seems to be getting wiser (probably more of a smart ass, if that is possible) by the minute. For example after he unwrapped the packages containing his kegerator system components, he told me that it was Plato who said "He was a wise man who invented beer." However, in the back of my mind I was thinking of the saying "Give a man a beer, and he wastes an hour, but teach a man how to brew, and he wastes a lifetime." Chris is ready to get in gear and make some beer with his new keg system and thought Supper Club would be a great time for his inaugural batch to appear, so we hope you can join us. As for food, we figured a taco bar would be fun for the kids and adults. We are going to prepare two or three meat fillings for the tacos. Please let us know what food (appetizer, dessert or side dish) you would like to bring so that we can make sure we have enough food. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!

Soup's On!

The weather is chilly
with a forecast of snow,
so let's make some soup,
and the "courses" we'll forgo.
We'll make a few appetizers
and have food for the kids,
so we're hoping you'll bring soup,
whatever flavor you wish!
Just let us all know
what kind you will make
it can even be a dessert soup
in place of a cake. :)
(I'll make a soup too
and have bread for us all,)
there should be plenty of food
and we can't wait to see y'all!
